2024 Jewish Summer Film Series: An American Pickle
The Mid-Kansas Jewish Federation's Jewish Summer Film Series presents: .An American Pickle' (2020). In 1919, Herschel Greenbaum (Seth Rogen), an optimistic immigrant laborer, falls into a vat of pickles at his factory job and is preserved for 100 years. Emerging in present-day Brooklyn without aging, he meets his great-grandson Ben, an app developer. Their attempts to bridge the 100-year gap lead them to rediscover the true meaning of family and the value of a good pickle.

Join cultural historian TK Smith for a public talk on the use of “self taught” to describe contemporary artists—including Robert Peterson, whose exhibition "Somewhere in America" is currently on view at WAM—without formal training. Smith is Curator, Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University. Smith is the editor of the forthcoming Somewhere in America exhibition catalogue.
