About Armando Minjárez Monárrez 

Armando Minjárez is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist, designer, and community organizer based in Wichita, Kansas. Over the past two decades, Minjarez has explored themes of displacement, identity, and liberation, contributing to the cultural landscape of the heartland through socially engaged art, community organizing, and activism. Working across multiple media and social contexts, Minjarez interrogates the politics of visibility and spatial belonging. Through the synthesis of craft, activism, and cultural strategy, he reimagines what it means to be an artist in service of community. 

In addition to his studio and public practice, Minjárez founded and co-led initiatives such as ICT ARMY of Artists and La Casa de la Semilla (The Seed House), which have supported the professional development of underrepresented artists while cultivating creative infrastructure across the heartland rooted in equity and empowerment. Minjarez’s impact extends beyond the work he creates to the networks of support, critical inquiry, and radical care he cultivates. Minjárez has led public art initiatives and exhibited work across the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe, and his work has been featured in major news outlets and published in peer-reviewed journals.
