Jacoub Reyes

In partnership with Botanica, WAM invites you in for an inspiring printmaking workshop led by Jacoub Reyes, a woodblock artist who merges biodiversity with cultural heritage and histories.

Participants will create vibrant relief prints of Kansas native flowers, merging personal experiences with Wichita’s evolving story, cultivating a visual garden that flourishes with each unique print.

Required | Limited Space Available | Free to Attend

Jacoub Reyes is an artist based in Florida who centers his Caribbean and Pakistani background as a relational point to expand on themes of colonialism, social response, and ecosystems exemplified in his work with IEA, Ma’s House, The Latinx Project, and CENTRO. Collaborating with Brown University, Alfred University, Kean University, Hunter College, UCSF, and other prestigious institutions, the intersections found in his work has allowed him to travel globally, engaging in lectures, workshops, and community events. Notable accolades include the Center for Craft’s Teaching Artist Cohort, the SFCC Grant, The Puffin Foundation, and The Joan Mitchell Foundation finalist, among others.

Botanica

Botanica’s Visiting Artist Program is a new initiative designed to elevate the role of visual arts within the Gardens and strengthen the connection between art, nature, creativity, and community. Through this program, Botanica commissions artists whose work reflects cultural diversity, environmental awareness, and meaningful public engagement. Each visiting artist will contribute original artwork, hands-on education, and collaborative experiences that enrich Botanica’s mission and deepen our impact across Wichita.

Funded in part by the F. Price Cossman Memorial Trust, this program represents a major step forward in expanding Botanica’s role as a cultural destination—one where art and ecology intersect, and where community members can participate directly in the creative process.

Partnerships With Wichita Art Museum & Ulrich Museum of Art

To launch the Visiting Artist Program with depth and intention, Botanica is partnering with two of the region’s most respected cultural institutions: the Wichita Art Museum (WAM) and the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University.
