Artist statement:

“We view this hand holding an ice cream that is melting, it is an experience that is very alive and accessible in our memories of summer. The ice cream melting down our hand brings on a feeling of impending doom. We feel the stickiness of the ice cream, we can remember it.

The hand holding the ice cream in the foreground blocks the static picture postcard landscape in the background, in which a tension is thus created between the ice cream and the predictable and stale landscape. And that is why we laugh.”
