About the Artwork

Born in Everest, Kansas, Kopietz grew up in Wichita where he studied with Elizabeth Sprague at Fairmount College and befriended C.A. Seward, Prairie Print Maker founder. As a young man, Kopietz left Wichita to study at the Art Institute of Chicago and later joined the staff at the Minneapolis School of Art. Kopietz was the only charter member of the Prairie Print Makers who did not live in Kansas. Despite his membership in the Prairie Print Makers, Kopietz was a painter who made only a few known prints.
