WAM Nights: Inside the Documentary “Safer Waters: Artist Stephen Towns on Paradise Park”
Did you know WAM produced an original documentary for the exhibition “Safer Waters: Picturing Black Recreation at Midcentury”? Edited by Wichita filmmaker Maliq Little of Leak Productions, the film explores a central Florida lake resort for Black visitors (1949–1969) through the perspectives of artist Stephen Towns and those who experienced it. Join curator Dr. Tera Lee Hedrick and editor Maliq Little as they share the story behind the documentary and Towns’ work.
WAM Nights: Pop-Up Pop Art ‘Alex Katz’ Party
