Students will look closely at the painting In my gumboots with my fur coat in the snow by self-taught Somali artist Uman. After spending time in the galleries, they’ll explore abstraction and self-expression, using paint to create a vibrant and colorful artwork of their own.

WAM Camp offers a flexible, day-by-day summer experience for children ages 6–12, designed to fit a variety of family schedules. Each session runs from 1 to 4 pm, with the option to register for individual days or multiple sessions.

At the museum, campers spend time both in the galleries and the studio. They engage with works from the permanent collection and exhibitions through guided looking and conversation, then move into hands-on artmaking where they experiment with materials, techniques, and open-ended projects. The structure emphasizes creativity, confidence-building, and connection, with all materials provided.

Sessions run across June, July, and early August, with additional dates during school breaks during the academic year, offering families multiple entry points throughout the summer.
