Ponder This, a spoken word performance at the Wichita Art Museum -- September 18, 2021

5 pm | Doors open and cash bar
6 pm | Performance begins

Spoken word occupies a central place in African American culture and history. As an art form, particularly in Harlem Renaissance poetry readings with Langston Hughes and others, spoken word evolved as a resonant artistic expression. Today’s spoken word artists pull from blues music, oral tradition, spiritual song, hip-hop, and slam poetry. WAM joins forces with Ponder This, an extraordinary spoken-word collaborative in Wichita.

This collective of raucous poets returns with another evening of thought-provoking and entertaining spoken-word performances. NOTE: As an art form, the expression and perspective is brash and hard-hitting and will not suit all audiences.

Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for WAM members, and may only be purchased at the door.
