About this Event

Join us for the opening day of Homeward to the Prairie I Come, a powerful collection of photographs by Gordon Parks, donated to K-State in 1973. This exhibition highlights Parks’s documentary work for LIFE magazine, alongside more experimental images that reflect his deep connection to the American heartland. Through these works, Parks challenges viewers to reimagine the role of African American artists in art history, while also celebrating Black beauty and identity. With photographs spanning from the 1970s to the early 1980s, this exhibition offers a moving and thought-provoking exploration of Parks’s legacy.
