Art Bridges - Access for All 2023

The Wichita Art Museum has been awarded a $420,000 to support school bus reimbursement, family-focused programs, Friday WAM Nights programming, community outreach and marketing to new audiences over the next three years.

WICHITA, KS – Wichita Art Museum (Wichita, KS) joins an expansive list of museums across the nation including Howard University Gallery of Arts (Washington, D.C.); San Diego Museum of Art (San Diego, CA); and Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, NY) receiving “Access for All” funding through Art Bridges Foundation, the national arts nonprofit founded by philanthropist Alice Walton.

The Access for All initiative will provide a total of $40 million in funding to 64 museums in 36 states and Puerto Rico. The initiative aims to increase access to museums across the country and foster engagement with local communities. Through the creation of free admission days, expanded free hours, public programming, outreach, and community partnerships, the initiative will eliminate many common barriers to museum access.

As part of this initiative, The Wichita Art Museum has been awarded a $420,000 to support school bus reimbursement, family-focused programs, Friday WAM Nights programming, community outreach and marketing to new audiences over the next three years.

“Art Bridges” support further enhances our ability to achieve our vision, which is to be an essential cultural leader in a thriving region, fostering creativity, joy, and belonging, says Anne Kraybill, Director/CEO of WAM.
