About the Artwork
Artist statement:
“The most enduring and endearing of my serial work was based on the theme “Fiddle Tunes.” Rich in storytelling information, this theme expresses a range of picture making possibilities: love, death, sickness, marriage, imprisonment, doubt, and happiness. Some chorus lines seem to be a relevant today as when they were first written: a song like “Sally Gooden: expresses the joy and excitement of courtship:
Had a piece of pie
Had a piece of puddin’
Give it all away to see
My Sally Gooden”
