Celebrate the opening of WAM’s featured fall exhibitions, Barbara Earl Thomas: The Illuminated Body and Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice.
1 PM | Artist Talk with Barbara Earl Thomas followed by a book signing of the exhibition catalogue.
2:30 PM | Performance by ARISE (African-Americans Renewing Interest in Spirituals Ensemble)
Galleries open 10 AM-5 PM.
Due to the Prairie Fire Marathon, visitors should allow a few extra minutes to arrive at WAM for Opening Day festivities. The Prairie Fire Marathon will be running in the area from 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Some streets may be temporarily blocked for runner safety.
Museum staff recommend accessing the Museum from the north, at Pine and Litchfield Streets. From 13th Street North, drive south on North River Boulevard, then continue south on Litchfield Street which intersects with Pine Street. Personnel will direct traffic into the Museum parking lot.
