Kick off your summer by arranging colorful masterpieces using various materials and techniques. Showcase your creativity by creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional works that take your imagination to another place! Tear, paint, fold, experiment, and create works inspired by the artists you see at WAM.

Emily Cass received her bachelor’s in art education in 2021 and is about to graduate with her master’s in Arts Leadership and Management from Wichita State University. Emily was an art educator at USD 259 for two years before pursuing a career focused on arts in the community. She is the gallery manager at Harvester Arts, an Art Start teacher at the Wichita Art Museum, and a practicing visual artist with hopes to continue being an involved arts advocate.

Brushes and Branches: An Outdoor Painting Experience

Nature is the original paintbox! Explore the Art Garden at WAM to be inspired to create your masterpieces. Explore shadows, make paint, and be prepared to get messy as we explore the wonders of nature and art.

Tamela Price is a local teacher and artist. She has been part of the educational community for over 12 years and the Wichita arts community since 2017. She works full-time as a 2nd-grade teacher and part-time pursuing her passion for the arts. Tamela returns this summer to teach at WAM Camp!

Brush and Beyond: Mixed Media Extravaganza!

Discover inventive, interactive, and inspiring ways of making Art. Walk on the wild side to explore how out-of-ordinary materials combine in the process of art. Be inspired by WAM’s Art Garden and get “outside” of the box to create artworks that will surely “pop”!

Wild Wonders: Printmaking with Nature

Spark your creativity with nature! Little artists will explore different printmaking techniques to discover how art can capture the beauty of nature. Enjoy creating unique prints with plants and flowers, garden veggies, and sunshine to celebrate the summer season.

Add a Little Ink and Imagination

Instructor: Maria Vasquez

Explore the fun of printmaking—be bold with color, peel away a surprise, make a lasting print, and ink on the creativity! WAM’s featured exhibition Annie Leibovitz / Work and other artworks on view will inspire young artists.

Maria Vasquez loves everything creative, from film and music to theater and dance. She has been an educator for almost six years as the Drawing and Painting teacher at Wichita South High. Maria’s artistic process involves exploring mediums and idea that pique her interest in creating fun and colorful artwork with a splash of strangeness! She is excited to return as a teacher at summer WAM Camp!

Sculpting Smiles: Playful Creations

Instructor: Myra Martinez

Join us for a playful camp where creativity knows no bounds! Explore the world of 3D art using a variety of materials ranging from plaster to toilet paper. Unleash your imagination by looking at amusing art and learning new techniques sure to make you smile!

Myra Martinez loves having adventures with her family, playing video games, and creating! Her hobbies include painting Pokémon cards, Lego building, and self-care. Myra graduated from WSU with a degree in elementary education and teaches art at Clearwater Intermediate Middle School in Clearwater, Kansas. Before teaching art, she was a 4th-and 5^th-grade teacher. Myra joins us again for another summer of WAM Camp with a passion for teaching budding artists!

SCULPTacular Skills in Three Dimensions

You’ll have the opportunity to delve into the fascinating realm of 3D art by experimenting with various materials, ranging from plaster to toilet paper.
