About This Event
Inspired by the 2020 killing of George Floyd, Wichitan Kevin Harrison created The Breathe Project. The one-hour music video explores the significant history of African Americans in Kansas, celebrates the experience of Black males, and proclaims that “all men are free to breathe”—all expressed in song. The talents of 51 African American men contributed to this creative and joyous undertaking. The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., honored The Breathe Project by screening it in their Arts Across America program virtually. Harrison will introduce the video and respond to questions from viewers. In addition to his talent as a musician and performer, Harrison is a faculty member and community engagement coordinator at Wichita State University. Don’t miss the beauty in song as The Breathe Project presents commentary on the important cultural history of African Americans in Kansas.
Registration is free. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
