Join curator Vicki Halper for an illustrated talk exploring Richard Marquis: Keepers. Marquis is a towering figure in the glass art world, best known for his extraordinary technique and iconoclastic humor. His oddball intellect is exemplified by his combinations of impeccably fabricated glass with cheap found objects.

Marquis has been collecting examples of his own work since the 1960s. The exhibition features a curator’s selection from this personal stockpile, which he calls his “keepers.” Seattle-based curator Halper is a WAM favorite who previously curated the WAM exhibitions Cameo Glass in Context: Charlotte Potter and April Surgent (2018) and Light and Shadow: Alyson Shotz and Kumi Yamashita (2019).
